We asked the DR to write a small bio for this site, unfortunately what he came back with was so epic, horrifying and debase, that even though truthful and accurate as it may be, we simply could not post it.

Here's what we know: At ten, after emerging from a Portuguese prison where he had been jailed for general crimes against sensibility, the young captain churned out several rather successful novels under various pseudonyms (some of which you’ll know). With the money from these works he was able to buy a Junker with which he sailed the worlds’ shallow seas and rivers in search of the heart of darkness… which he purportedly found.

Sixteen years old and all trace of innocence shattered, the young captain lead his crew in a bloody mutiny against his own despotic rule. Being the sole survivor he spiralled into a succession of benders both infamous and mysterious, a catalogue of heroic depravity and desperate self-destruction that simply to hear about is said to shave years from your life and all certainty from your mind. It was during these ‘lost years’ that he somehow managed to achieve his PHD, though it is rumoured to be honorary.

The now ‘Dr’ Captain, after several ill-advised and dubious ventures, disappeared into a decade of self imposed exile with only his new first mate and confidante- a cat known as Boson- for company. Upon returning to the world of society, the now ‘good’ Dr has a singular purpose: “to embrace the ‘normal’ life so under-valued by the majority” and “to take pleasure in the simple beauty of the gentle world”. It is this endeavour that lead Dr captain to this radio show, which even though intended to be simple pop music, invariably bends to the strange and uniquely intriguing, a transcendently eclectic adventure through any and all genre and peppered with band/performer interviews and stunning live-to-airs.
